What We Do

Inspection. Documentation. Approval.

Every SafeStay inspection follows a rigorous, documented protocol — covering the safety systems guests depend on and the compliance details hosts often overlook.

Safety Inspection

A thorough, protocol-driven visual inspection of your short-term rental property conducted by a retired Assistant Chief of Police with 30+ years of law enforcement and emergency management experience. We assess:

  • Smoke & carbon monoxide detectors
  • Fire extinguisher presence & accessibility
  • Emergency egress — doors, windows, exits
  • Stair, railing & slip/fall hazards
  • Pool, hot tub & outdoor safety
  • Door & window security
  • Guest emergency information posting

All inspections are visual observation only and do not include electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or structural systems.

Letter of Approval

Upon successful inspection, you receive a formal SafeStay Approved Letter of Professional Safety Approval — a credentialed document issued by a law enforcement professional. Use it to:

  • Display in your rental property
  • Share on Airbnb, VRBO & booking platforms
  • Present to guests for peace of mind
  • Provide to your insurance carrier
  • Demonstrate municipal compliance

Valid for 12 months from date of issue. Property-specific and non-transferable.

Inspection Report

Every inspection includes a comprehensive written report delivered to you documenting all findings. Your report includes:

  • Item-by-item inspection results
  • Pass / Needs Attention status for each category
  • Photographic documentation of findings
  • Recommended corrective actions
  • Inspector credentials & signature
  • Date, property address & scope statement

Your report is a professional record you can retain for insurance, legal, and compliance purposes.

Re-Inspection

If your initial inspection identifies items that need attention, we return to verify corrections have been made and update your approval status. Re-inspection includes:

  • Review of all previously flagged items
  • Verification of corrective actions taken
  • Updated inspection report
  • Issuance of SafeStay Approval upon clearance
  • Flat $75 re-inspection fee

Annual renewal inspections are also available to keep your SafeStay Approved status current year over year.
